no more goretex?

no more goretex?

Postby rhinoaug » Mon Oct 13, 2008 8:48 pm

Is it true that they (manufacturer?) stopped producing goretex implants since last year?
If so, what's the reason?

Thx.

that is true. the reason is that there is too small a market for gore-tex for cosmetic purposes. they still manufacture cardiac gore-tex devices and, of course, clothing. no worries though. i have been using surgiform products for a year now and i actually like their ePTFE (that is the non-branded name for gore-tex) sheets better. also, implantech makes them now too. so there are actually more choices than gore's. if you picked up one of these sheets, you would not be able to tell the difference. i can since i am a connoisseur (just kidding), but seriously, the new sheets are a bit softer and nicer in feel.
best,
sml
