Restylane for asian nose

Postby rhinoaug » Mon Sep 29, 2008 9:41 pm

Can restylane be used for augmenting an asian nose (bridge and the tip)?
And can it be dissolved right away if I decide to get the nose augmented using permanent implant afterwards?

yes, but the tip is not as easily augmented as the bridge. the tip tends not to expand forward as well and does not look as nicely defined as a tip graft. also, obviously, you can't defat the tip skin, so these would be some of the subtle differences between a formal rhinoplasty and an injectable.

Dr Lam
Could you explain a little more on this? I am assuming this is going to be temporary? How long does it last? How much does it cost? How exactly does it augment the tip of nose? Thank YOU

Dr. Lam,

Can it be dissolved away if I want to get a permanent nose job with an implant at anytime?

YES!! I can believe someone ask about fillers for reshaping the nose.
OK..This is my question ..After two bad nose surgeries...I ended up with a decent nose..Sad but it could be worst!! After all this years I been noticing that the bridge and tip of the nose are bumpy(bridge of nose) and the tip is longer....and uneven...
Well, after a long thinking I"ve decided I might come and see you Dr.Lam.Maybe you can help and I thought about a filler to even up those bumps ...What do you think >?Can the tip get more round and wide with fillers? or maybe with evn fat grafting?Thank you...I m new to Dallas and to your blog and I find all this very exciting and new!! Congratulations...is Awsome!!

thank you. the fillers are a bit easier to correct problems with the bridge of the nose than the tip because the skin expands more easily higher up. the tip is a bit harder but i can make minor changes. i would have to see you. i am booked out pretty far in advance so call to schedule an appt. sooner than later. also i have a waiting list. welcome to dallas.
best,
sml

Thank you Dr.Lam for your quick answer. Thae more I read from the blogs the more I learn.I heard you talking about some kind of "tape"..i can't recalled the word you use and that's what they use over the bridge of the nose to make it look less bumpy after one of the bad surgeries ...What I can see is that it must be dissolving or something because I can see and feel bumps again(that's why I thought about fillers). Well, I will try to make an appoinment ASAP because I am having trouble breathing too..I hope I can meet with you soon...

I saw a surgeon do this live on TV a while back - I can't remember if it was restylane or one of the other fillers (maybe hydrafill?), but was really really impressed with the results. Something I should probably learn to do soon :)

one safety comment: if the person is going to have a rhinoplasty, only inject restylane. every other product really makes a formal nose job a total bitch. please remember that and have the ethics of not injecting radiesse into someone who is pre-rhinoplasty.
