Dear Dr. Lam,
First off I must say I am quite impressed with your Background, Research, Services, and Especially your hosting of this forum; I am an ancillary member in the medical field as well
and with all the time your work, ect. takes up, hosting a forum like this is really a very kind and compassionate thing to do .
Anyway, I am in my mid 40's and have moderate scarring,
(mostly on 1 cheek in a 2 x 2 inch area) from past acne when I was younger.
I only went on Accutane, (unfortunately when I was in my upper 20's which did a great job
but a bit late , thus scars).
I had a subcision a few years ago followed by PRP a month later and then 2 units of artfill a few months later in various areas of my face, but mostly on that cheek which is the worst scarring on my face.
Through one of the online forums I heard about subcision FOLLOWED by suction as a more efficacious way to maximize the subcision quality, (to prevent readhesions of the tethered scars back to the dermal layer), see link for research study done:
My dermatologist heard of this and 2 weeks ago agreed to do the subcision and use her in office suction machine every day 2 weeks post subcision, (starting on the 3rd day after the subcision).
Of course there was bruising from the suction, which is said to be good in the overall success of the procedure with hematomas helping to make more collagen, ect,(cited in the study).
Have you ever heard of this Subcision-Suction Combo and/or what might you know about it?
It's kind of early to tell what my end result might be first hand with a bit of bruising still.
I am also hearing that collagen might still fill in the subcised-suctioned area for up to a few months after the procedure but found that to sound Strange, hmmm?
My Dr. had made reference to also using Artfill again on area in a bit; Does that sound normal?
Thanks a million in advance and keep up the excellent work here!
