Is it normal to still have feelings of swelling and tingling 2 years after having buccal fat pads removed with facial liposuction done?
I had the procedure done two years ago. One year after, I was still still puffy and had a tingling sensation that was slowly subsiding, but it was apparent my right side was a bit fuller so I had a follow up procedure then, to remove more fat an try to correct the asymmetry.
At this time, the left side that was not re-touched looks great, while the right side is much puffier, even after last year's procedure going back in to remove more fat. There is still a feeling of tightness and tingling in some areas of the left cheek, but not nearly as much much tightness and tingling as there is in the right side that was re-touched a year ago. I seem to have good sensation all over, as I can feel my finger rubbing across it as well as pain from a pointy object. I have not lost any motor function.
Basically.. the left side has shown great improvement from 2 years ago... while the right side seemed to heal slower initially..and appears to be progressing even slower since the second procedure... so having that side re-touched may have only set back the healing process even longer. Either way this recovery process seems much more lengthy than what I've read on other forums (few weeks to several months MAX for the swelling to subside).
Do you think my right side will ever fully heal? I can't say its a matter of there being excess fat remaining in the right side, because he did go back in a year ago and remove extra. Long nights of laughing and smiling seem to cause both sides to become very firm throughout the following day. Applying ice/cold compress also seems to increase the puffiness, while applying a hot water bottle seems to "loosen up" the area just a little. I regularly exercise, and took several months off thinking the increase in activity was delaying the healing process but it did not help.
Is there is anything I can do to speed up this healing process, this late in recovery? Exercises? Massage? Ultrasound? Herbs? Creams?
Thanks in advance!
