I was browsing through your forum (and I love it, so much information) and saw that many patients are seeking help with regard to silikon lips. It seems that many patients are developing problems. (Inflamation even after a long time, size too big, nodules).
Is this happening due to bad injection technique, not pure silikon or is it that the product (silikon 1000) is just not safe and creates to many problems after a while?
I really want the permanent solution silikon for my lips because I cannot inject them too often with HA (I am prone to get mucoceles and have already some in the lips) but no filler is also not an option because I have thin lips.

i truly believe that it is due to improper injection combined with poor product. there is always a risk with permanent fillers but i think the risk is very minimal if done by a qualified injector, slowly over time, with proper product.

Thanks so much; one more questions, could I have Silikon done if I have some mucoceles in the lips? (I am prone to get these and have been diagnosed from various oral surgeons as blocked glands, not dangerous but annoying). So I am looking to get my lips augmented with a permanent filler and will evaluate then if I want to have the mucoceles removed. (Because I am prone to get them I do not want to have any constant fillers like HA which do not last any longer than 2 months in my lips).

Do you think I could still have them augmented with Silikon 1000 or is there anything that speaks against it.

And where can I ask for a quote of a round of Silikon 1000 in your office? THANKS A MILLION.

that is an interesting situation. obviously, the fear is that by injecting the area i could increase the odds of more mucoceles. if you have been injected with other fillers and that did not increase the odds then perhaps that would be fine. for costs, just call my office 972-312-8188 or email info@lamfacialplastics.com.

Thanks so much doctor. The mucoceles are created by trauma to the tissue, so when I get an injection there is a chance one of them forms. BUT: I have really really thin lips and I want an augmentation. I got HA fillers the last 10 years but don´t want them anymore because of the constant repetition of injections. I want something permanent and done with it.
So, I am guessing I would be done with 3 rounds of silicon in a slow and careful manner.

My question: When doing silikon is the trauma to the tissue MORE than with normal HA (the procedure itselft)? Maybe because you need to prick more? Or does it happen in a linear threading technique withdrawing the needle and while withdrawing deposititing multipel microdroplets? Or is it even less agressive because you do not need to massage it etc.?
And last question? You said you are not an "outliner guy", but how do you augment the lips which are curling inwrards? Not injecting into the border but below? How do you get the lip to not curl inwards anymore? Can you create more vertical height?

the silikon injection needle unfortunately is bigger and requires many more injections. i have an idea though. i started using a microcannula to do my juvederm and restylane and am willing to try that on you with silikon. although i know that sounds scary that i would be trying something new on you with a permanent injectable two things: 1) i am a very skilled injector and feel that i will not harm you, 2) i fix silicone lips although the time (fortunately not my own but of others, and i do not expect to have to fix yours). just a thought to help you figure this out.
