Is it possible to have a surgical scar revision after having silicone? I have not had silicone yet but I'm wondering what my options would be after silicone (in case I'd like to explore other treatments down the road)

should not be a problem if you wait a month at a minimum for the silicone to be adherent to the surrounding tissue.

Dr Lam,

I have had Perlane and Restalyne injected by two different Dr's for a large deep rolling type acne scar. Both times the scar remained totally unchanged, however I could feel the filler in my face. (It kind of looked like the filler went everywhere but in the scar, almost creating a donut hole). Why did I see no fill in from this? I have heard that with fillers they reach a "no fill point"

I want to try silicone in the hopes that silicone would work better. How could silicone do for me what a temporary filler could not?

i believe that with silicone when you put punctate amounts in you get the product to lift the area better than sticking a mound of it in as you do with restylane and perlane. when you put a big mound of it in with the technique for restylane and perlane, you tend to have the product disperse around the area rather than going into it. funny thing is i just did a 3rd round for a lady yesterday who said that my silicone blew the pants off her previous experience with dermabrasion and restylane injections (donna, if you are reading this, i would love for you to comment and tell your experience!). i truly believe that restylane is a different animal for acne scarring. i tend to get less success with it. that being said, i still use it when someone does not want silicone.

Thanks, that makes sense. After my experience with restalyne I find it hard to believe that anyone could really get much improvement with it. Maybe if someone had some superficial scarring it would work better. I'm glad you mentioned the Patient you just did, that REALLY gives me hope.
