Dear Dr. Lam, I had a canthopexy 2 months ago. I now look horrible and my lower eyelids are pulled down lower than they were; you can see scar tissue on the outside of my lower eyelids and feel it also. What can cause this? I plan to go to an oculoplastic surgeon but I am trying to understand the causes of this. I am now wearing sunglasses most of the time and my plastic surgeon doesn't seem to know how to correct this. He injected dilute steroids under my eyes but that so far hasn't made any difference. Anything you can tell me about under eye scar tissue will be so helpful.
i wish i could help but i don't do canthopexies for that very reason. i simply do not believe in any skin muscle work on the lower eyelid because the canthus can be distorted. this is the video i shot on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooKQuvZboVk sorry, i know that does not help you but it is more for the general readership. yes, an oculoplastic surgeon can help you. it really is beyond my capacity.
