I had a revision Rhino using ear cartilage & Alloderm. I had a crooked flat saddle nose. Within a few weeks it got infected & an abscess formed on my nose near my left eye. It was cultured & drained. Culture came back as proteus and abscess is located on top of Alloderm. I was on Bactrim Cipro & now Levaquin. The abscess is still there one month later & still draining. So now the Doctor wants to go in & remove all my grafts & the Alloderm.

Is it difficult to remove Alloderm and ear cartilage and will my nose collapse? It's been two months since surgery.

i have not had to remove alloderm before so i don't know. don't know if you have to remove the cartilage. typically the alloderm most likely is the problem. however, truly i would defer to your surgeon since he did the case and knows your situation better than i do.
