Dear Dr. Lam, I previously asked you about putting restylane under my eyes again, a year after still having lumps from the prior procedure. from another plastic surgeon.I am 68 years old. Will this affect the procedure if you remove the lumps, and try again with the restylane under the eyes.

Another question: What do you charge for radiesse? I know you can't put it under the eyes but I might be interested in putting it under the cheek area where I have had Sculptra in the past. I liked the Sculptra; it lasted about a year, but it is now gone.

If the lumps from the previous Restylane are removed with Vitrase, it will not affect the result of what I put in there. However, since Vitrase dissolves all hyaluronic acid. It is not wise to remove the Restylane with Vitrase at the same time as put in more Restylane. It is simply dangerous to do so because the new Restylane could be absorbed. My recommendation (if you live out of town from Dallas) is to have your Restylane dissolved before coming to see me. If you want me to do it, in an ideal world I start a week before and see you every other day until the lumps are smooth because it may take more than one dissolving session. In an imperfect world, I see you 1 day before to dissolve it, and then do the procedure the following day. In a compromised but still much better world, I see you several days before and begin the dissolving process and then do it. I would really recommend someone local doing it for you before me if you are from out of town. Radiesse is a great long term fill for the cheeks for those absolutely not interested in fat transfer for a 1.5 year minimum period.
