Hello Dr. Lam. I have an issue with scar tissue and discoloration on my lower lip. While recovering from surgery I bit through my lower lip unknowingly while my face was bandaged. Long story short, it never really healed properly and i am left scar tissue in my lower lip, especially on the left side of my lower lip where there is an obvious lump where one of my canines bit through. My lower lip has never felt the same since, and i can feel the scar tissue stretching when i smile and talk. There is also a horizontal seperation of my lower lip tissue when i smile, most likely caused by my top front teeth biting in. It is obvious when i smile or talk and i would definitely like to do something about this. I've wanted to do something about it ever since, but my oral surgeon said he didn't want to mess with it because it may create more scar tissue. Could i send you some pictures to see if theres any way I could improve this?

1. if it is a thick scar, then 5-FU will help.
2. if it is a widened scar, then surgery can help it. i don't agree with your surgeon that a worse scar will occur. most likely it will be better.
3. if it has a mucocele (you can wikepedia that), we need to remove that and fix the scar.
