saw a similar sounding thread down below, but alas, it wasn't the same question. i'm thinking about reducing an overly full top lip--would this procedure result in more upper tooth show? i don't really mind either way; i actually think a bit of tooth show would be nice/youthful (i know lip lift patients often request this). thanks in advance!

it can but won't necessarily. in many cases it does. it depends on how big your lip is and how much i need to reduce. if i reduce little and your lip hangs more, then the answer is no tooth show. if your lip needs a lot of reduction and it is higher arched already, then the answer is probably yes. yes, i agree, more tooth show (minus someone with a very gummy smile) makes someone younger looking in many cases.

thanks dr. lam! just finished watching your video on botox and the lower face. what a great vid! out of curiosity--why not inject the dli to lift the lower lip? i have a good bit of LOWER tooth show, and would love to have this reduced to some extent. i know docs periodically inject the dao, but why not the dli? thanks for your thoughts!

i do inject dli for an overactive muscle in that area or a person that i am working with who has a one sided paralysis. however, there is too much risk of a speech problem when i hit both dli's. i only use it for reconstructive purposes not pure cosmetic. you will smile and talk weird unlike a dao injection.
