Hi Dr Lam,
I have a 2 year old linear chin scar caused by a fall from my bike. It has become more noticeable with time, i'm not sure if the width has changed but it seems more raised. I visited a consultant who has suggested a linear scar revision, on the grounds that any of the plastys would increase the scar length and there seems to be little tension on the scar in his opinion. While I do think that a linear revision with steroids to avoid it becoming raised would improve the appearance (the initial suture by A&E was very poor), a lot of the information I have read seems to suggest that the scar would benefit from a plasty.
What are your thoughts?
