This section of the forum is dedicated to discussions addressing linear scars, depressed scars, keloid scars, hypertrophic scars, and other facial reconstructive topics. (Of note, Dr. Lam no longer accepts medical insurance so he rarely manages cancer reconstruction or trauma anymore.)
I have 3 white raised hypertrophic scars on my chin and not quite sure how to make them look better. I had an erbium yag laser treatment in June with no luck and then I had co2 laser (100% ablative) done and they dont look any different. I am glad these bumps are small but it makes my chin look very odd and there really is no way to cover them. I am going to see a new doctor that does dermabrasian because I really think that there is no way that laser can blend the edges of the scars with the rest of my skin. I dont want to have an outline of where they were ya know? What do you think what should be my next option? I have asked about 5-FU mixed with botox (i read about this online) but nobody seems to think that is the way to go.
this is hard to give you a good answer without actually seeing you. there are so many ways to manage this situation. hypertrophic scars can be angry and may become worse after dermabrasion. if you just have raised non-hypertrophic scars, then just burning them off may be sufficient. s
