Fresh Indented Forehead Scar

Postby Indent » Fri Feb 15, 2013 2:06 pm

Hello Dr. Lam,

Thank you for offering this forum. Three weeks ago, from an accident, I incurred a deep cut approximately one inch in length on my forehead just above my eyebrow which required stitches and has left a red, indented healing scar. Is there anything I can do proactively to minimize the appearance and/or expedite recovery? Do indents sometimes fill in on their own; and, if so, is this common/uncommon?

I recently started using SkinMedica Scar Recovery Gel on the advice of the nurse removing my stitches, and I started wearing a silicone scar sheet yesterday. Do you think either or both could potentially assist recovery? Or, on the contrary, potentially impede recovery?

Thank you, in advance, for your time.

i think both are a great idea. also, i have been blown away with Regenica on the skin following cuts no matter how young or old. you should be able to find this on the Internet. if not, i can send you some. it is really powerful. it is made of human growth factor that simulates the fetal repair that was present as a fetus (but the product is not from an aborted fetus) but using neonatal tissues instead. i am now using it every day.

Thank you for your time and reply, Dr. Lam.

Are you suggesting I should use Regenica as a supplemental therapy to the SkinMedica Gel product or in lieu of it? Also, how can I order the product from you? Lastly, at what point in time should I make an appointment to see you in person if I'm not comfortable with the progress of my healing scar? 6 months?

hi,
yes, i can send you a couple of bottles. it will blow your mind. it is $150 each. email marcy@lamfacialplastics.com and let her know that i have approved the sale. to me it is so important now for every new or old scar. i am using it on my old scars too. just started yesterday though. i would use it as a base, wait 5 minutes, then you can put any other cream on top that may help. i would wait at least 6 months if possible to see if the scar fades before thinking about seeing me.
best,
s.
