Hi Dr. Lam,
I know this is weird that I don't know, but I THINK a mere 2 units of botox has caused slight eyelid droop. I had an eyelash disaster at the same time, so without my lashes it's hard to know for sure. I've examined pics and I'm pretty sure there is droop...and if not the botox, then I guess I have eyelid droop that I never realized! Anyway, it's not fully hooded like some botox disasters (a friend recently had the full on Frankenstein brow/hooded eyelid botox gone bad deal). You can see my top lid on the inner part, but the outer part seems to disappear into the folded part of the lid. At a med spa the Dr (yes, it was a Dr) noticed that I have one brow higher than the other and said a simple 2 units of botox could fix it. I had always admired the ladies in the office who had botox from this Dr...everyone looked great! I just never thought botox was for me, a needle-phobe. But I thought 2 units, what could go wrong with 2 units? Well, turns out that it was weird to have one side of my forehead not move as much (or wrinkle) so I had 1.5 units on the other side. As I said, an eyelash disaster left me with no lashes and I thought I looked weird because of no lashes...but I realize there is some droop that I'm almost positive wasn't there before and just kind of a "downward" look. The injection was in that upper wrinkle about an inch above the eyebrow. Is it odd that only 2 units did this? It sounds like any botox in the forehead can cause drooping so I guess I'm not that surprised. I have minor wrinkling in the forehead and around the eyes, but all this botox gone bad has me thinking that my wrinkles are not bad enough to risk the bad that could happen...speaking long term botox. However, I've become very self conscious about looking droopy and wonder if there is something that can be done. I don't want to look like this for 2-3 months. I've heard both sides - just leave it alone or it might become worse with more botox, or that more botox could correct it. What are your thoughts, Dr.Lam? I've been reading your responses and you seem very trustworthy.
