if you are talking about for asian eyelid, then yes i have seen this happen. that is why i use a light iv anesthesia to supplement my injectable anesthesia and keep my injectable anesthesia superficial to the orbital septum so there is almost no chance of this occurring. in the past i saw this when i put anesthesia behind the orbital septum near the levator muscle. this anesthesia will last only a few hours but it is enough to make reading symmetry during crease formation difficult. there can be ptosis for a week or two in less than 10% of patients. this occurs due to two factors: eye muscle dysfunction/irritation and simple swelling. these are temporary in nature if the muscle is carefully protected during the procedure, which i do.
