I am fascinated with the aging process...and when I looked at these two photos of Karen Mulder, probably one of the prettiest ladies ever back in her day...and then now...it amazes me to see the change.

What is her major aging problem and how do you go from one to the other so quickly...?

karen mulder is (was) beautiful. somehow i cannot open your before photo but i hold a mental image of her in her more youthful time so i don't need it plus i know aging obviously with a bias toward volume. here are the principal things that age her:
1. volume loss around the eyes, flattening of the brows, hollow under eyes but MOST strikingly of the upper central and outer cheek. if you look at her you see that the lower cheek starts to round and dominate. that is a very typical appearance in early and late aging. people look at that photo and say, "Oh my goodness, would Dr. Lam put more fat into those cheeks?" The answer is yes but understand it would be higher and further out to make the cheek that she has now smaller. yes, smaller. (i have these photos of 2 identical twins in their early 40s in my office that will blow your mind because it will answer everything i am saying in crystal clarity. just can't post it on the net. if you come in for consultation, make sure i show them to you.) also see some buccal hollowness (that is why i am opposed to buccal fat removal) and also anterior chin hollowness. watch my videos in the video log section of this website on buccal/jawline and also overweight cheeks (which she is not but will help you understand the esoteric ways that i look at a cheek.)
2. second, she is getting early wrinkles around the eyes and between her eyes. of course, botox can soften that. as we get older and the muscles start to show through the thinner, less padded skin, they also start to undergo hypertrophy/thickening and become visible.
3. there are early skin signs of aging (not terrible) but early in terms of discolorations, etc.

if she were interested, a fat transfer (or fillers), plasma skin resurfacing, and at least one year of consistent botox to retrain the muscles would restore her pretty close to where she was before. ok, enough of being critical on a nice looking lady with early aging.

Ok. Could you explain where the "anterior chin" area is?

She is certainly still pretty. She was arrested in Paris yesterday for some altercation concerning her Plastic Surgeon which is odd. That's what made me think of her and google old pictures.

the area on either side of the "mental crease", the crease that occurs on the anterior chin. it is not the crease that is the issue but the area that circumscribes the anterior chin. it is near impossible for me to explain this to you until i do a 30 minute consultation, then it becomes magically clear. it is what i call in the video i asked you to watch the "upside down U".
